BuildingIQ Wins the Prestigious 2014 National Energy Efficiency Council (EEC) Award for Australian Technology Park Implementation
Installation of BuildingIQ’s energy management platform recognized as the “Best Commercial Energy Efficiency Project for 2014” in Australia
San Francisco – November 17, 2014 – BuildingIQ, a leading energy management software company, today announced that it has been named a winner in the 2014 National Energy Efficiency Industry Awards for its installation in the Australian Technology Park (ATP). BuildingIQ is acknowledged for its ability to seamlessly integrate its energy management platform into the ATP and showcase performance, leadership and innovation in the reduction of energy consumption. The installation was recognized as the Best Commercial Energy Efficiency Project for 2014 in Australia.
The ATP, a business and technology precinct, is comprised of five distinct buildings located in a campus-like setting in the suburbs of Sydney. BuildingIQ was selected to deploy its Predictive Energy Optimization™ (PEO) software at four of the buildings, beginning with the 120,000 square foot facility occupied by the National Information and Communications Technology Australia (NICTA). Despite already being considered a highly efficient building with NABERS scores of 5.5 out of 6, BuildingIQ made a significant impact and reduced energy usage even further. Using predictive analytics and advanced algorithms, BuildingIQ lowered energy consumption by 18.8 percent and reduced 30,025 kWh since the project’s inception in April 2014.

BuildingIQ is the first predictive software to intelligently optimize energy consumption with no impact on occupant comfort. It works with existing building management systems (BMS) and uses advanced algorithms to create a forecast that incorporates variables such as cost, weather conditions and utility data, while ensuring tenant comfort. The self-learning model makes real-time adjustments to the BMS in order to create savings in HVAC energy costs, as is the case at the Australian Technology Park.

The National Energy Efficiency Industry Awards were created by the Energy Efficiency Council to foster excellence in energy efficiency, cogeneration and demand management. Winners were announced at this year’s National Energy Efficiency Conference.
